On the next day of our team outing (related post: Finding friends in Schaffhausen), we went to Rheinfall. Looking from the train station, Rheinfall carried a peaceful aura.
Rheinfall welcomed us with a sunny day. We had lunch in a restaurant with a beautiful view of the waterfall, where I learned something new. In Germany, there is a drink called ‘Radler,’ which is a mix of beer and lemonade. Radler, for me, is the perfect drink for a sunny day. Not seeing it on the menu, I asked the waiter if they had Radler. He kindly pointed out a drink called Shandy on the menu. When he brought me the drink, he explained that Radler is what this drink is called in Germany; in Switzerland, it’s called Panasch. With a big smile, I thanked him for letting me know.
After lunch, we went for a 30-minute boat tour in Rheinfall, which was wonderful. The boat driver gave us an overview of the tour. When we crossed the border between Germany and Switzerland, he jokingly said, “Passport control, please.” We all started laughing; it was quite amusing. Later, a few colleagues and I went for a walk to the castle. Initially not planning to buy tickets for the historama and viewing platforms, we eventually did, and it was the right decision.
At the end of the viewing platforms, there was a stunning sight – a rainbow over the waterfall. I simply stood there, enjoying this breathtaking view.
