I am an early bird, and I attribute it to my family. When I was a child, my parents would often wake up at 4 am, have coffee, and engage in discussions covering every topic while planning for the day.
This habit has deep roots in me, and I have been waking up daily at 4 am since childhood. My brain functions most efficiently in the early morning, and I find that I can study best during that time. In the last year of high school, I even woke up at 3 am to study for the university entrance exam, aiming to secure admission to a top university in Vietnam (related post: Decisions, Decisions: Choosing a University and Major in Vietnam).
These habits didn’t change much when I was in university. When my friends found out that I woke up at 4 am, their reactions were amusing, ranging from “You’re an early bird” to “You must be from Mars” π. Well, what can I say.
If you’ve read this post until now, you might be wondering: If I wake up so early, what time do I go to bed? The answer is really early as well, often at 8 pm, latest at 9 pm. That’s why my friends said I must come from Mars because no one on Earth has that kind of routine.
During my master’s studies in Germany in 2019, I often woke up at 3 am in the morning. Why? To learn German! Because “Life is too short to learn German”. Now, after some years of intense focus on German, my German learning time has reduced significantly, but I still learn German every day, though not as intensely as during the first two years of my master’s degree. Nowadays, I wake up daily at 5 am and have developed a new habit – writing blog posts. If you’re reading this post, it’s the result of my spontaneous thought this morning to write a post about my morning habit of writing blog posts π.
Enjoy your day – Greetings from an early bird.

Hi El, totally get where you’re coming from π! I believe not everyone must be an early bird, we all have our own rhythms, right? As long as we’re owning our uniqueness, that’s what really counts! Rock on with your cool self! πͺπͺπ
