Yesterday, I visited a friend. After enjoying some delicious Korean food from our favorite restaurant, I asked her what she preferred to drink. She’s a big fan of both milk tea and Starbucks coffee. Unsure of her choice, I suggested we flip a coin: heads for milk tea, tails for Starbucks. The coin landed on heads, so we decided on milk tea. However, after only a few minutes, she changed her mind, expressing a craving for Starbucks coffee instead. I joked, “Good that we tossed the coin; it led us in the opposite direction 🤣.” But I also realized that sometimes we already know what we want; we just struggle to make a decision. Flipping the coin actually helped us recognize our true preference.
Side story: I have read the book about Starbucks “Pour Your Heart Into It” and I really like that book. But I had never stepped foot in a Starbucks due to its perceived higher cost compared to the abundance of local coffee options. Even after relocating to Germany and passing by numerous Starbucks stores, I still hadn’t tried it. That changed when a friend discovered that I have never try Starbucks and insisted on treating me to a coffee. I figured out that I quite enjoy their Vanilla Latte.
Today, being Sunday and in the midst of preparing tomorrow’s blog post, I suddenly want to have a Vanilla Latte. I tried to make it using Vietnamese coffee-making technique. The result? I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it turned out. I’m currently enjoying as I write about this Vietnamese Vanilla Latte.
If you want to try out yourself. Below is the recipe:
- 40 ml coffee (Trung Nguyen coffee)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (Vanille Extrakt)
- 200 ml warm milk

You could try coffee with bubble tea toppings, then maybe you wouldn’t need to flip a coin anymore 😁
